Social Media Helps Police Identify Teens Responsible For Soccer Field Damage

With the help of social media, police were able to identify two teens responsible for vandalism to the soccer field at the Ansonia Nature Center.

The two male juveniles were charged Saturday, March 2, with the vandalism of the soccer field at the Ansonia Nature Center in February. The damage to the field was estimated to be more than $1,500, the Ansonia Police said.

The teens, who were both 17 at the time of the crime, were charged with criminal mischief and released into the custody of their parents, police said.

They are scheduled to appear in Waterbury Juvenile Court later this month.

Police said Information received through the Tip411 program and social media led to the identity of the suspects and several witnesses.
